One thing I learned from reading hundreds of biographies about famous Hollywood celebrities who made it big; the Broadway play was usually better than the movie screenplay adaptation.

Don't get me wrong now. I'm not saying that JAWS or STAR WARS were adaptations of hit off Broadway plays.
The exception always proves the rule.
